About the Awards

New for 2024: What's Different This Year?

MetroTex awards have a long and prestigious history of recognizing the best in the business. New in 2024, you’ll notice a few changes. Here’s why!

The title “REALTOR® of the Year” has had several meanings in our history. For many years, that title was synonymous with the Easterwood Cup (Broker of the Year). A few years ago, we shifted the title to the Lois Hair Bernays Award (Salesperson of the Year) so REALTOR® of the Year wouldn’t only be available to Brokers. But that switch was limiting as well: now Managing Brokers were ineligible for “REALTOR® of the Year.”

Fast forward to 2024. We’re committed to fixing the issue for good with a new REALTOR® of the Year award designed to recognize a single REALTOR® who has made an impact on the association and the real estate community. This allows the Lois Hair Bernays Award (Salesperson of the Year) to recognize a producing agent who is not a principal or managing broker, and the Easterwood Cup (Broker of the Year) to recognize an exceptional manager, broker, corporate executive or owner.

Also new for 2024, the MetroTex Vanguard Award recognizes a REALTOR® member for their efforts in an area outside of residential real estate, such as commercial, global, property management, etc. While still honoring members’ contributions in the Global and Commercial arenas, this new award allows for more inclusion of different business types.
