What's the COE Training Requirement?
Every three years, all REALTOR® members must complete ethics training that meets the standards set by the National Association of REALTORS®. The upcoming deadline for this training is December 31, 2024. Please be aware that the Texas Real Estate Commission Legal II course no longer fulfills NAR’s Code of Ethics training requirement, a change enacted in 2019 by the NAR Board of Directors.
- If you completed NAR-approved ethics training in 2022, 2023, or 2024: You have fulfilled the NAR requirement for the current cycle ending December 31, 2024.
- If you did not complete NAR-approved ethics training in 2022, 2023, or 2024: You must complete the Code of Ethics training requirement by December 31, 2024.

How Is This Different from Before?
In 2019, the NAR Board of Directors adopted a change extending the Code of Ethics training requirement from every two years to every three years, with the next deadline set for December 31, 2024. At the same time, they determined that the Texas Real Estate Commission Legal II course, which was previously accepted, no longer satisfied NAR’s Code of Ethics training requirement. Ensure your training is up-to-date.
How Can I Check if I’ve Already Completed It?
You can check your Code of Ethics status by logging into your account at nar.realtor.
Does Taking Legal II Count?
The Texas Real Estate Commission Legal II course required for license renewal no longer satisfies the NAR requirement for REALTOR® Code of Ethics training.
Not sure if you’ve completed your required ethics training? Check your status.
How Does This Relate to My New Member Orientation?
If you completed MetroTex New Member Orientation in 2022, 2023, or 2024, you have satisfied the NAR requirement for REALTOR® Code of Ethics training. Not sure if you’re covered? Check your status.
What If My Membership Gets Suspended?
If you don’t complete the required Code of Ethics training by the deadline, your membership will be suspended starting January 1, 2025. If the requirement isn’t met by March 1, 2025, your membership will be automatically terminated. Learn more about the consequences.
