This forum features leading local experts who will show you how to effectively educate your clients on the entire eviction process to ensure you win in court.

Speakers:

  • Daniel Paz, Attorney at The Paz Law Firm PLLC
    Daniel is an experienced landlord-tenant attorney in the DFW area. For the past 6 years, he has opened and grown his own law firm, The Paz Law Firm, PLLC, into a thriving litigation boutique firm catering to property owners, property management companies, landlords, and real estate investors. His clients include property management companies in the single and multifamily industry and individuals. In total, he has over 23-years’ experience in the area of landlord-tenant litigation. He frequently appears before all state and federal courts in Dallas and the surrounding counties. He handles all areas of landlord-tenant litigation, including evictions, security deposits disputes, bankruptcy lift stay motions, fair housing complaints, repair and remedy suits, code enforcement citations, and vendor claims. He obtained his law degree from the Southern Methodist University School of Law and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degrees in political science and communications-news editorial from Southern Methodist University. He is admitted to practice law in the state of Texas and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
  • Katy Hubener, Agent at Crescent Real Estate Group, Former J.P. Judge
    As a former Justice of the Peace, Judge Katy Hubener knows how to maneuver a courthouse. Twice elected as the Justice of the Peace in Dallas County, Katy led one of the busiest courts in the State of Texas where she heard a heavy docket of criminal and civil cases, including evictions. She is frequently appointed Temporary Justice of the Peace, sitting as a visiting Judge and has been dubbed the Circuit Court Justice of the Peace for Dallas County. She is the go-to Judge for complicated cases, cases ripe for television entertainment, and is the last minute pitch hitter when a docket is too busy or a judge is absent. Katy is a native of Southwest Dallas County and Duncanville, Texas. She is a graduate of Duncanville High School. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech University and a Master of Arts degree from Claremont Graduate University. Katy is a long-time Realtor and Founding Partner of Crescent Real Estate Group. She along with her mother, Ann, opened the firm more than fifteen years ago. Together they were repeatedly appointed Receiver to manage and sell properties involved in courthouse disputes. Katy and her mom were both Past Presidents of Southwest Dallas County Women’s Council of Realtors and both earned the prestigious award of Entrepreneur of the Year. Katy is married to her business partner David E McKamie who is a Director for MetroTex Association of Realtors, they have two children, a fabulous daughter-in-law, one grandchild, and three sassy but loving dogs.
